Data were obtained by semi-structured interviews recorded in a tape-recorder. Then, recorded interviews were transferred word by word in a notebook and analyzed with qualitativeinductive method. Focused on current perception of daily life identified 3 types: happiness, pleasures and asperities, and difficulties. Further, core-categories were extracted from integration of categories of each type and examined elationships among them in order to construct a structural model. Process of elderly living alone was consisted of 3 corecategories and conditions of living alone were supported by 6 core-categories related each other. Perceived future perspectives were related with 3 core-categories. The findings suggested the following: Elderly living alone in a small local city of S city in Y prefecture that was typified by high rate of three generation households, should be respected their own will; encourage to maintain close ties with children who live nearby and visiting each other with neighbor residents; and provide support for their age related flux of health status. In addition, assistance should be provided to new-comers at their old age to prevent isolation from mutual help based on residents’ living together in a community for long time.
